Treating Trauma from a Feminist Therapy Perspective

This presentation will emphasize the following objectives: 
*I: Getting to Know Your Clients: Identify the components of the RESPECTFUL model and discuss how this model can be used to better understand various aspects of clients’ identity (including those which have been historically marginalized).
*II: Historical Trauma and Intersectionality: Define historical trauma and intersectionality, and discuss ways historical trauma can be transmitted to future generations.
*III: Trauma, Marginality, and PTSD: Identify at least two reasons why individuals belonging to traditionally marginalized groups are at higher risk to experience trauma and develop PTSD than those from privileged groups.
*IV: Feminist Therapy: Identify the values and tenets of Feminist Therapy, and discuss why this approach is recommended for disempowered clients.
